About the lessons
What do you want to play?
You don’t have to diagnose the problem before we meet. Play me the part and tell me what you’re hearing.
Sometimes a small change in your picking or timing makes a phrase feel completely different. We’ll listen for that difference as we work.
I tailor the lesson to you. We can spend the hour on a difficult passage, build a practice routine, or work through your own music.

Listen to the part
We compare what you are playing with what you want to hear. It might be a bend, an accent, the attack of a note, or the whole phrase.

Look at your hands
I watch both hands as you play. A picking angle, a late finger, or extra tension can explain why a particular passage keeps catching you.
- 03
Put it back into the song
Once a change helps, we try it in context. That gives you something specific to practice after the lesson.
How it works
An hour on Zoom.
Have your guitar ready and position the camera so I can see both hands. We can share recordings, look at tabs, or open your modeler software during the call.
You play the part. We try a few changes, listen to what happens, and spend our time on the detail that matters most.
You leave with a short plan you can use on your own. I can send notation or practice material when it helps you keep working.

Play slowly enough to hear what already has character. Stay with the small amount of material.

Make one note, rhythm, or articulation the focus. Repeat it without adding more material.

Change the phrase
Change the ending, the space, or the direction of a familiar phrase. Keep the constraint small.

Listen back
Record 60 seconds, listen once, and write one next step for the next time you pick up the guitar.

Before you book
If you are unsure whether a lesson makes sense for what you are working on, send a note. I will give you an honest answer.
Is Zoom the usual format?
Yes. Almost all of my lessons happen over Zoom, and I teach players worldwide. In-person lessons in Sacramento are occasional and depend on availability.
What do I need for a Zoom lesson?
Your guitar, a stable internet connection, and a phone, tablet, or computer positioned so I can see both hands. You do not need a studio setup.
Do I need to be an advanced player?
No. I have taught newer players and professionals. It helps to have something you want to understand or play, but you do not need to arrive at a particular level.
Can we work on my own song or solo?
Yes. Your own music is often the best material because it makes the goal clear and tells us which detail deserves our attention.
Can we work on tone or digital modelers?
Yes. Tell me what modeler, amp, cabinet, and monitoring setup you use. We can work on your touch, the preset, or both.
How do scheduling and payment work?
